Woodbridge Home Owners And The Washington Nationals Baseball Games

This Author Went To A Game Yesterday And Enjoyed The Experience

Parked At The Springfield Metro Rail Station And Rode The Subway To Natinals Park

You can get to and from Washington Nationals baseball games using Metro rail service that goes to the Navy Yard station.

I went to a game yesterday with my wife, Patty.  Her company sponsored a day at the ball park for employees and spouses or significant others.

I'd been to Nationals games at RFK stadium, and I drove because RFK has ample parking, and I know some secret short-cuts to escape the traffic.

The new Nationals Stadium has plenty of refreshment vendors, lots of restrooms, but the one thing it lacks is convenient parking.  You need a permit to park in ANY of the parking lots, and parking could be as far as four blocks away from the stadium.  Whereas the Navy Yard Metro rail station is beneath the southwest corner of the stadium.

Yesterday's game started at 1 PM.  So we hopped in the car around 11:30, drove to the Springfield Metro rail station.

The parking garage was 99% packed with cars driven by commuters, but within ten minutes we found a parking space and took the elevator to the station platform.

A train was waiting when we got there, so we were on our way in a flash.

We changed trains at the Pentagon, and once again at L'enfant Plaza to get to the Navy Yard station.  Changing trains was no big deal thanks to easy to understand signs in the stations.

We hoofed it around the corner to the stadium entrance, up a few escalators, and a flight of stairs that took us to the nose-bleed seats the company purchased for us, just above left field.

15 Year Home Loans Become An Attractive Alternative For Homes In Woodbridge Virginia

15-year mortgage rate hits record low By Martin Wolk

Mortgage rates fell over the past week, sending the 15-year benchmark to a record low, mortgage giant Freddie Mac said Thursday.

While 30-year fixed-rate mortgages are more common, low mortgage rates have made 15-year notes more realistic for some homeowners, especially those who have relatively low balances and want to pay off their principal more quickly.

The average 15-year rate for mortgage deals done over the past week was 3.11 percent, down from 3.13 percent a week ago. Monthly principal and interest payments on a $200,000 mortgage at that rate would be about $1,392.

Meanwhile the average 30-year rate fell last week to 3.88 percent from 3.98 percent. That would equate to an average monthly payment of $941 on the same $200,000 mortgage. Payments are lower on the longer-term mortgage, but interest paid over the life of the loan is far higher.

Rates fell for a third straight week in part because of last Friday's weak monthly employment report, said Frank Nothaft, chief economist for Freddie Mac.

"On a more positive note, the Federal Reserve reported hiring was steady, or showed a modest increase, across many of its districts in its April 11 Beige Book of regional economic conditions," Nothaft said.

Adult Easter Egg Hunt At Aunt Mary's

Hunters Find Money And Gift Cards In Eggs Hidden In The Back Yard

Easter Fun For Grown-Ups

Our daughters and their cousins were together on Easter, as all of the family gathered at Aunt Mary and Uncle Ted's house for Easter dinner, The Masters on TV, and an adult Easter egg hunt in the back yard.

Egg hunters found eggs stuffed with gift cards, cash, or jelly beans.

It was a beautiful, 75 degree day outside, perfect for the cousins to enjoy an Easter egg hunt.

The hunters raked in cash, gift cards, and jelly beans.

Thank you Aunt Mary for hosting the egg hunt.

Now that the cousins are all adults, they are closer than ever.  They stay in close touch on Face Book and by text messages packed with photos.

Katie lives in Colorado; Erin is at VCU in Richmond, Tara lives in New Jersey, Teddy lives in Alexandria, Taylor is also at VCU, and Page also lives in Alexandria.

It's great to have all of the cousins together at holiday time.

Cash Mobs Could Be Coming To Woodbridge Virginia

Cash Mobs Could Be Coming To Woodbridge VirginiaCash Mob Attacks Richmond, Could Happen In Woodbridge Soon

Cash Mob Attacks Local Richmond Business And Could Strike A Woodbridge Business Too

Read The Story Below Then Send Me An Email If You Would Participate In A Cash Mob

Cash Mobs Would Be A Fun Way To Support Local Woodbridge Businesses

Do you live in Woodbridge?

Do you have any favorite locally owned Mom-and-Pop businesses you'd like to support?

Read the story below about local citizens using the power of a flash mob to support their favorite local businesses.  Then send me the name of your favorite local business that deserves a flash/cash mob.

The shop local movement has a new mobster.

By starting Richmond’s first cash mob, Chesterfield day-care owner Rainey Niklawski steered thousands of dollars in sales to a local produce market. And she wants to maintain the momentum, mobbing a different business every three month through her group, RVA Local Patronage Mob.

“I think we’ve all fallen victim to the ease of going to Walmart and Target because everything’s there. But we’ve forgotten that Richmond runs on local business,” Niklawski said. “We need to get back to putting money out locally.”

Through Facebook, Niklawski creates an event and targets a business every third Saturday. Participants can go at any time on that day. It’s like a flash mob, only without the synchronized dancing. (Not that you are prohibited from dancing. )

Once a business is mobbed, it gets to pick the next business for the group to bombard.

Farm to Family,a natural produce and grocery market on Mechanicsville Turnpike that also has a mobile store in a bus, was the first to be hit. About 230 people came in one day.

And the crowd came just in the nick of time for owners Mark and Suzy Lilly.
